Being real

I think more & more, when I read a faith blog, I just want to read a TRUE TESTIMONY of how someone has applied their faith or had God "do something" for them, whether large or small.   I will tell you what He did for me a few days ago:  I was simply having a rather "low-esteem" attitude about my "housekeeping". It wasn't dust or laundry that bothered me but just the general aging & deterioration of furniture, siding etc. Somewhere in the vague recesses of my mind, I have this "Better Homes & Garden" vision of how I should be able to keep up my home. The reality is shabby ( NOT shabby chic, just plain old shabby!), old, & aging, sort of like me. I had moved an old sofa to the backyard, & because it's REALLY hard to get any of my guys to help move furniture or take it to the dump, I had plans to strip off the upholstery, add a bit of wood here & there, & create another oversized "bench", like another one that I had created earlier & had fun painting a bright pink with painted sunflowers, hollyhocks, & morning glories. So that was my plan, but I lacked motivation. The old brown sofa sat for months, till the upholstery was faded & torn. It was looking pretty ugly & like a big project to me. So I prayed, just quickly...for motivation.               So, to make a long story short, one of the wonderful ways God motivated me in this project & let me know He heard & cared about my petty project happened like this: After a night of strong winds, I noticed my "free table" in the front yard had blown apart. (This was created out of scrap pieces of wood to place items for the neighbors to take as I decluttered closets, etc. They eventually took everything I set outside.) I decided to disassemble the "free table" since I was pretty much finished with my decluttering project. As I worked, I noticed that the major strip of wood, (which happened to be a piece from a closet door) wood make the perfect back for the "bench" I was creating out of the old sofa. I can't tell you how much that simple little "help from God" inspired & motivated & revitalized my attitude. Instead of discouragement in creating "more junk", I found joy in creating with what God had given me to work with.          Have you ever heard that we, as people, are valuable, because "God doesn't make junk"? Well, I believe Satan is powerful enough to convince us at times that we are inferior...old, ugly, fat, socially repulsive, etc. The list could go on forever!  I want to tell you that God does not pay any attention to those things, (& YES, we are some of those things!) He knows EVERYTHING about us but HE LOVES US ANYWAY!  That, my friend, is all that matters!   John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one & only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but shall receive eternal life."    Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia
