Proverbs 31 Woman part five

In Proverbs 31 verses 14 & 15, we learn that this Godly woman will put much effort into purchasing,  preparing, & serving food to her family & to her servant girls. We read," She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark and provides food for her family & her servant girls." My first thought is to compare our culture, in which households typically do not hire servants to other cultures where the practice is common. I think there are many countries where young women in need of a job would be glad to do household duties for a kind caring family. I believe the Proverbs woman cares about her servant girls & sees that they are well fed. The Proverbs woman demonstrates that she works as hard as anyone by rising at night. We will read on to discover that she is a successful business woman in addition to her family & homemaking duties & she needs hired help in order to facilitate her large economic contribution to her family, her servants, & the needy. No, we do not find this woman lazily lounging in luxury. She is joyfully industrious & blesses her family, her servants, & the needy by caring for their practical needs.  More to come.....Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia

  1. I think it's interesting that it says the food comes "from afar" - maybe because it's better than the local food? The woman must be very concerned not only with providing food, but also with providing good quality food. Amazing how much effort she puts into simply feeding her household! Thank you for sharing!
