Proverbs 31 Woman part one

I have been thinking quite a bit lately about the Proverbs 31 woman & am going to share my thoughts; firstly, the beginning of this chapter reveals that King Lemuel's mother is giving him wise guidance in various subjects, including women. I don't know who King Lemuel is but this chapter of the Bible clearly indicates that he respects, regards, & credits his mother for her wise advice. In Proverbs Chapter one, verses 7, 8,&9, we find clear teaching on receiving wise counsel; " The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom & instruction. My son, hear the instruction of your father, & do not forsake the law of your mother, for they will be a graceful ornament on your head, & a necklace around your neck."   So I am thinking this is ideal yet practical advice from the Bible. Children need instruction & correction. Loving parents assume the responsibility to teach their children what is important, & they understand it is a God given role & is necessary for the well being of the children, even as necessary as providing affection, food, cleanliness, & physical comfort. Neglecting to give care in any of these areas reveals a deficiency of love from the parent. Neglecting to give moral guidance & direction would also reveal insufficient love. Now, I am going to put in a "disclaimer" of sorts: Just as there are no perfect children, there are no perfect parents! This is where God's grace & mercy come in! In a very true sense, we are ALL deficient in the area of love! Just as God is willing to patiently love & correct & guide us, we must learn to love & correct & guide others. " We love God because He first loves us. " 1 John 4:19   We quickly discover this principal with babies. They are just helpless & we have to love them first. Little, by little, they learn to love us back!  I would think by the time they grow to be a king, their mother's advice would not be needed but God's Word surprises me again, because this woman is clearly God's chosen instrument to impart some necessary instruction to her adult son.   In Part two,we will look at mama's instructions. I'd encourage you to read the chapter.   Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia
