I abhor Santa

I am hesitantly sharing this because it seems so negative, however it is very true & a necessary part of my testimony. I was about 6 years old when I discovered gifts in my mother's closet. Sure enough, they showed up on Christmas "from Santa". I clearly remember my reaction to this day though I don't know if I said anything about it. I just remember being disappointed & angry because I'd been deceived & disgusted. Funny, I still feel the same way about the whole Santa thing. I don't want to play along with it at all. I tell the children Santa is a lie, but Jesus is true! I totally do not get the "fun" of pretending with Santa. Why not just tell them the truth?       Matthew 1:21  "And she will bring forth a Son, and you will call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."

  1. A friend brought this up toward the end of the school year. It is an excellent point. It's so much a part of our culture that most people don't even think about it, but we really are lying to little children, and we don't even really have a reason for doing it . . . just that everyone else is doing the same thing. If I ever have children, I think I'll take the same approach you have. Thank you for sharing, friend!
