John the Baptist said "I must decrease & He (Jesus) must increase". Jesus said we MUST be born again by His Spirit. I'm pretty sure that the low confidence, doubting days are designed to make me realize that there is still plenty of me in this body & I don't like me. Scripture says there is nothing good in us, except perhaps the desire to do good. (Romans 7:18) Ok, looking at a bit more Scripture here causes me to clarify; I have two mes. The old me was buried with Jesus Christ through baptism. The new me was raised to life to walk by the power of the Holy Spirit which is instructed to put to death the sinful deeds of my body. Can I just interject here that as a young woman raised in the Catholic faith, I had no idea that it was the Holy Spirit Who would come to live inside me to give me victory over sin. I remember this idea was new & appealing when I was introduced to the Scriptures. I will say as an old woman now that this principle still amazes me. I can walk in new life by the power of the Spirit because of Jesus! John wrote that if we say we have no sin we are liars. I know every single one of us struggles with sin. There are many subtle sins such as pride, unbelief,& fear & doubt. These will take us down, if only temporary. God, by His great mercies which are new every morning will raise us up by His Spirit & by grace. Okay I'm not sure about the two mes but one thing is for sure, I go down-He lifts me up!  Proverbs 24:16 "A righteous man may fall seven times & rise again but the wicked shall fall by calamity."

  1. Oh, thank you, Cynthia! I needed to hear that today - that He lifts up - because He does. Oh, and that verse is one of my favorites! So much old me in me, too, praying for Him to keep bringing more of the new one. Thank you so much for sharing this - I truly appreciate how you explain Scripture so accurately in such simple words.
